Health and Wellbeing Client of the Season – Winter 2021

April 25, 2021

As part of our Health and Wellbeing services, HILS provides nutritional support and tailored physical activity programmes to older and vulnerable people living in the community. Our Health and Wellbeing Client of the Season Award is an opportunity for us to celebrate our client’s achievements, hard work and determination.

During the colder months it can be difficult to maintain a balanced diet and keep up with exercise, but not for Fred and Sylvia our Wellbeing Clients of the Season!

Achieving healthy weight gain

Fred has been receiving support from our Nutrition and Wellbeing team since February 2020 after he raised concerns about weight. After identifying poor appetite as the cause of his unintentional weight loss, he was encouraged and supported to increase his daily food intake by enjoying regular fortified meals, additional snacks and nutritional supplements. Through his positive attitude and dedication to achieving healthy weight gain, Fred has successfully achieved and maintained a 7% weight increase.

But that isn’t all, throughout lockdown Fred was keen to keep his mind busy and improve his mobility, and he achieved that too. From drawing to knitting, Fred has picked up a number of hobbies that he thoroughly enjoys, and has since become well known throughout his supported housing for his daily strolls through the corridors. Well done Fred!

Staying Active

Another amazing client that we would like to celebrate this month is our Active Ageing client, Sylvia.

Isolated from her family and unable to enjoy her usual activities, Sylvia has shown an amazing amount of strength and resilience throughout lockdown. As carer for her partner who is living with dementia, Sylvia was supporting him with his chair-based exercises and quickly found herself drawn to the programme too.

Sylvia thoroughly enjoyed her time with the Active Ageing team and now incorporates elements of the programme into her daily routine, like doing strength and balance exercises whilst she is waiting for her porridge to cook. What a creative way to stay active!

We are so proud to celebrate our amazing clients Fred and Sylvia. We hope you will join us in congratulating them for their efforts as we award them as our Wellbeing Clients of the Season.
