On Saturday, 16th November 2024, we were delighted to get into the Christmas spirit by attending the Eastleigh annual Christmas lights switch-on! This wonderful event, organised by Eastleigh BID, brings charities and local shops together with pop-up stalls along the high street to spread festive cheer and raise money for good causes.
At our stall, generously provided by Eastleigh BID, we hosted a tombola with prizes kindly donated by members of the public, the HILS team, and local Brownie groups. The tombola was a hit, with plenty of happy faces as prizes were won! We also had delicious, festive cakes baked by Kiera, a friend of HILS, which were very popular. Fiona, our Hampshire outreach worker, was joined at the stall by Stephen and Kiera, who kindly volunteered their time to help us raise money for HILS.
The stall provided a fantastic opportunity to connect with the community and share information about our meals-on-wheels service. It was heart warming to hear from family members whose loved ones use our service and to learn how we’ve helped by providing nourishing hot meals at lunchtime. We met many people interested in learning more about our service and how it could support them or someone they care about.
We are thrilled to share that the day was a resounding success, raising an amazing £146.56! We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported us by donating, taking part in our tombola, or buying a cake—we are so grateful for every penny raised.
HILS provides nutritious meals to elderly and vulnerable people across Hertfordshire, Hampshire, and West Sussex, enabling them to live independently. As a not-for-profit social enterprise, we reinvest any surplus into improving our services and supporting those in need. Every pound raised helps us continue our vital work, delivering meals and offering essential support to the most vulnerable in our communities. Your generosity makes all the difference—thank you for being part of our journey.
