The Willow Group Has Moved… Next Door!
We’ve got some exciting news to share – the Willow Group has a new home, and it’s right next door!
Originally sited in St Albans and known as our Kingfisher dementia group, the Willow Group was relaunched in 2025 when we moved into Friendship House in Hatfield. We loved being part of the wider community there, joining in with entertainment and sharing our lunchtimes together. But it didn’t take long for us to realise that, above all else, we needed to put the comfort, safety, and wellbeing of our Willow Group clients first.
So, we started thinking about what would work better.
A Familiar Move (With a Lovely Upgrade!)
As it turns out, the perfect solution had been staring us in the face all along, the building next door. After plenty of trips back and forth (and a huge thank you to our brilliant facilities team!), we carefully moved all of our furniture, games, puzzles, and arts and crafts resources into our new space.
And just like that, the Willow Group was ready to open its doors again.
We’re now delighted to say that the Willow Group operates from Quantum Care Home in Hatfield. Our new room offers a calmer, more secure environment, as well as freshly cooked meals prepared on site, something we hope our clients will really enjoy.
Keeping Things Familiar
We know how important routine and familiar surroundings are for people living with dementia, so we took great care to make the move as gentle as possible. Clients were able to visit the new room beforehand, and we made sure to talk through the changes with both them and their families.
Jill, our Willow Group Leader, puts it perfectly:
“It’s the same group, the same staff, the same furniture, and the same routines, just in a lovely new room. We wanted the move to feel exciting, not unsettling.”
