This year we have again been amazed at the support from local School Children in Hampshire, Hertfordshire and West Sussex who together have created over 3,000 hand-drawn Christmas cards for our wonderful meals on wheels clients.
For many of our clients, these cards are very special to them and a reminder that they are cared for and remembered. Many of our clients live alone and may not have family nearby, making the Christmas period a particularly lonely time.
A simple card, filled with bright colours, glitter, and cheerful messages, has a positive impact on how our clients are feeling and a smile
usually follows when they are opened.
Designed by children as young as 4, our clients have loved receiving them and we have received some lovely messages back, Thelma said:
“The Christmas cards from the children were a lovely idea, I’m so very grateful for it. ”
Why It Matters
Our Community Team Members deliver more than hot nutritious meals, they deliver support, companionship, and security for our clients. Every year these cards add that extra personal touch to every delivery, sparking smiles and conversations. For some clients, this may be the only greeting they receive, making the gesture even more meaningful.
A Community Effort
We are grateful to all the teachers and students who continue to support our campaign and make this possible. Their small act of kindness continues to have a big impact on our clients, and we look forward to seeing all the wonderful creations next year!
