Two charitable 16-year-olds from Sussex, Brooke and Monty, were determined to make a difference to older and disabled people in the community by taking on a 100K in 24hrs walking challenge on 25th October.
Through an extraordinary fundraising effort, the pair surpassed their expectations and raised an amazing £1,773 total for HILS. These funds will go towards supporting older and disabled people across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, West Sussex, and Hampshire to stay happy, healthy, and independent. Brooke was ecstatic with the achievement, “I completed the walk finishing at Birling Gap in 21.5 hours, so I passed the aim which I’m very happy about. It was the most challenging task I’ve ever done!”
Brooke was also chosen as this year’s photographer for our 2024 HILS calendar, which will be sent to every Meals Service client to enjoy throughout the seasons. The calendar is colour-coded in line with our Main Menu so that clients can keep track of which delicious meal they will be receiving each day.
Brooke and Monty are shining examples of young individuals who are making a profound impact on their communities and we’d like to say a huge thank you to the duo, as well as everybody who supported their walk and donated to our cause.
