The Hertfordshire Business Awards 2019 celebration took place on November 21st at a packed conference hall in Knebworth Barns. The gathering included representatives from some of the most ambitious and innovative businesses and charities from across the County, and was hosted by acclaimed comedian, Stephen K. Amos.
The judging panel consisted of senior professionals from international corporations, such as KPMG and Barclays, and significant local actors, including the Archant media group and the Local Enterprise Partnership. Reflecting on their choice of HILS for Social Enterprise of the Year, they stated that: “The service HILS offers is invaluable to the local community. They continue to offer consistent support to clients who use their services enabling the older members of the community to stay in their own home, along with offering schemes and day activities at their drop in centres helping the wider Hertfordshire community.”
As a social enterprise, HILS trades to deliver social good and reinvest any surplus generated through business activities to better support clients by developing new services.
“We are delighted to have received this mark of recognition for the amazing work our teams do every day to help older and vulnerable people stay happy, healthy, and independent in their homes”, says Sarah Wren, HILS Chief Executive. “We believe in the power of ethical business to deliver social good and develop stronger, more caring, and more resilient communities. It was also utterly inspiring to meet other local businesses and not-for-profits who are doing incredible things across Hertfordshire, we are very honoured to have been selected as Social Enterprise of the Year.”
