HILS has been awarded the National Meals on Wheels Award 2020, for providing an excellent meals on wheels service to older and vulnerable people across Hertfordshire.
Hosted by the organisation’s Chair, Sue Cawthray, and in true 2020 style, this year the prestigious National Association of Care Catering (NACC) awards ceremony took place virtually on October 8, with organisations and supporters joining from across the UK.
Recognising the exceptional efforts and outstanding innovation of care caterers across the UK, the annual event was a welcome celebration during what has been an extremely challenging year for many organisations. The National Meals on Wheels award is sponsored by food and catering provider apetito, the UK’s leading food producer for the health and social care sector.
Judges Bev Puxley, Andrew Archer and Alison Smith declared HILS as “an organisation, which never rests on its Laurels”. Delighted to receive the award, HILS Chief Executive, Sarah Wren said; “No one could have anticipated the challenges 2020 has brought us, but it has been an honour to be part of the frontline support that has responded so well to the needs of our community during this time of crisis. We are so proud and grateful to receive this reward and on behalf of our amazing HILS team, thank you for your support”.
