Leave a gift in your will
Why leave a gift in your will?
Leaving a legacy donation in your will can be a wonderful way to make a lasting impact. Any legacy, no matter how large or small, will make a difference to people in our community. By supporting HILS, you can enhance the lives of individuals through:
- Supporting people in financial crisis to receive hot, nutritious meals, or emergency food and grocery packs.
- Encouraging someone living with a disability to improve their mobility and wellness through an Active Ageing Exercise programme, helping prevent hospital visits down the line.
- Fostering an environment for someone with dementia to make new connections at one of our Dementia Fun Clubs.

How to leave a gift in your will
Leaving a gift is a simple process. A solicitor can help you make a provision for a gift by preparing a will, or if appropriate, a codicil to update an existing will.
There are three ways a gift can be left in a will:
- Pecuniary gift – a fixed sum of money
- Specific gift – a particular item such as an antique, painting or property which would then be sold to support out cause
- Residuary gift – a percentage or share of the estate after all other gifts, expenses, debts and tax have been settled.
